World of One: Origins
Our concept of 3D is literally composed from two overlapping images in our brain (one from the left eye and one from the right eye). If we were to add more images then, do we see in higher dimensions? Would we reach a deeper understanding of our environment? What if we apply that same concept to ourselves?
These are the kinds of questions that this work makes me think about. But when I started, I really just wanted to make something that looked cool (i.e. like my inspirations). I always believed that this work wasn’t about me. It was about the concept of identity and identity creation.
But hindsight, whether intentionally or not, I think it is about me. Even though I initially used my likeness out of convenience, it has since become a time capsule of sorts. I now see it as a document of me trying to find my identity as an artist.
