When in Doubt

Sometimes it’s good to revisit old ideas with what newfound knowledge you might have earned. I’ve been working all weekend on some new World of One stuff, and failing miserably at it. This is the first time I’ve failed making an image for this series (and is also reminding me why I’ve been so adamant about doing more). I think I know how to fix it now though so that really just translates to more work this week. It’s not even that the image came out bad, it’s just that I know it’s not as good as it probably could …

Faces on Shirts

Is it ever ok to wear your face on a shirt? Well, probably not. So I got my buddy to model my new tee’s instead. I guess it helps that she’s a chick and much cuter than I am. But alas I digress. Now introducing my newest creation: the Cranefaced Tee’s!!!! $26 Each shirt is going to be in a limited edition of 250. So you can be sure that you almost nobody else will be able to cop yo style (well, except for the other 249 people i guess…but who’s counting?). You can either pick one up through me, …

Fun House

I was scouting for potential World of One locations earlier today, when I came upon this awesome looking house. Looking at this, I would probably fail as an architecture photographer, but hey at least it looks pretty cool. I just got some T-shirts in earlier this week and will be putting them for sale online soon along with the posters. But for now, here’s the concept sketch: Check back later this week and I’ll have some cool shit up!

A Decade of Florox

In celebration of my crew’s 10th anniversary, we thought it would be a great idea to cram as many of us as we could into one epic photoshoot. This is by far the most members we’ve ever had doing the Florox pose at once. Special thanks to Andy who helped me come up with the idea for the shoot (or who possibly came up with the idea, i don’t remember), Julia and Emily for pressing the button, and to the Florox massive for being the most awesome and real friends ever. For those of you who don’t know, Florox is …

Posters For Sale!!!

Posters are in!!! As promised, I will be selling 20 x 24 posters of my “Cranefaced” self-portrait all numbered and signed for $35 +shipping/tax. Feels kinda weird to be saying that i’m selling pictures of myself, kinda makes me feel like a douche bag. I think generally when you see a person standing next to an oversized photo of themselves, they are either: a) a dictator or b) a narcissistic bastard. Then again, an artist is a bit of both i guess. Each image will be signed and numbered by myself there are 250 in all in this edition and …

Morning Glory

After a long night of drinking, as I finally laid down to rest in my drunken stupor this was what I saw before me. Those few moments in the morning when the sky starts to lighten, but the street lights are still on. As soon as I saw it I knew immediately that I had to take this picture, or I might not get chance ever again. I’m glad that I did. I actually haven’t been shooting a whole lot of work this past week, mostly I have been designing some stuff that my friends might actually want/be able to …

Madness Before Method

This has been a busy month. I’ve been preparing for my shows, creating hype and worrying about nobody showing up. Most recently I have been shooting for project code name Super Ego, and am still looking for models who wish to participate (see call for models [kinda] post below). I don’t even remember the last time I took this many portraits. Currently on a break from the cool surrealist kind of stuff, but really that just means I’m itching to make some more pretty soon. Now that the weather is warming up, I will hopefully get around to making more …

Arrested Motions

Funny how free time works. When you don’t have any of it, it’s awesome. But when you have a lot, it is no longer free, it just becomes time. When I was folding my 1000 cranes, I would take breaks from the monotonous folding process to make unique “designer cranes” like these. Each one featured a unique design, and are one of a kind. In order to make each crane as precise and clean as possible, I would constantly unfold and refold cranes to make sure the designs I drew fit each crane perfectly. I found this process both comforting …

For the Love

I was on vacation in Hawaii for the last few weeks visiting my crewmate Kevin. This is Kevin. Every year at our crew reunion we consistently vote him “most likely to die first.” This is why. This picture is every bit as dangerous as it looks, if he were to fall off to either side certain death would await for him there. But for the sake of keeping florox tradition alive, Kevin took it upon himself to perform what can only be described as hands down the most dangerous florox pose ever (yes, this is our crew pose). In the …

A la Harry Callahan

In the first few years of my dancing, there was a long winded on going debate over what constitutes as “biting” (copying someone’s move) or “inspiration,” which which still continues to this day. At the time the insult of choice to get a rise out of another dancer was to call them a biter. For us, being called a “biter” implied that a dancer was not creative enough to come up with their own moves, and had resort to stealing someone else’s moves in order to express themselves. In short it was like saying someone has no soul. Although I …
